RM of Maple Creek’s story
The Rural Municipality of Maple Creek No. 111 lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan. It incorporated as a rural municipality on December 10, 1917.
The town of Maple Creek is surrounded by the RM, and the municipal office is located there. Several smaller localities lie within its boundaries: Belanger, Cardell, Clearsite, Cummings, Kincorth and Mackid. Hatton was once a village but was dissolved on March 15, 1934. The RM also sits next to the reserve of the Nekaneet Cree Nation.
Ranching is the main industry here. The RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Thursday of each month.
